Introduction to CCPA and GDPR

Given how intrusive websites, apps, software, and technologies that we use every day have become, the privacy of personal data is a concern that’s been receiving increasing attention — both from internet users as well as lawmakers.

In this regard, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the United States’ California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) are the two most well-known and impactful data privacy laws to date.

While the GDPR is already in effect, the CCPA is set to go live on January 1, 2020.

Apart from applying to multinational companies and large businesses, these two data protection laws and their immense fines for noncompliance may apply to small businesses, start ups, and even blogs.

The infographic below, presented by Termly, is a visual crash course in the basics of and differences between the GDPR and the CCPA. It first helps you discover whether you need to comply and if yes, how you can get started.
