PDF Security Plugins

PDF Security plugins are hailed as being a simple extension to PDF Reader applications to enhance security.  However, they may not have all the security that some manufacturers claim and can even put users’ systems at greater risk of malware attacks.

ElcomSoft CEO Vladimir Katalov stated that “Because of the plug-in architecture of Acrobat and PDF readers, it makes PDF a less-secure platform for DRM”.

So, while PDF security plugins may seem convenient, they still require Admin rights to install, they can be overruled by other plugins, can be easily broken by updates and can put document security and computer systems at risk.
