Nike Air Max's 30th Birthday

When the Nike Air Max were invented on March 26th 1987, no one knew what a monumental icon it would become and today the Air Max are one of Nike’s best selling styles and have been worn by millions worldwide over the last 30 years.

The idea was born when Air Max designer Tinker Hatfield visited Paris to see the Centre Pompidou and became obsessed with the idea of showcasing the inside working on the building to the outside, from this the idea for the visible air bubble in the trainers was ideated.

When a cultural icon like the Air Max turns 30, there’s only one way to celebrate! So we decided to recreate iconic film shoe moments from the likes of The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Sex and the City and Grease and replace the shoes with Air Max Models. We can safely say that we’ve proved that Air Max has the power to suit every outfit, person and situation.
